Adopt A Plot
Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Bruce Barnett, who started an adopt-a-plot effort in the 1990's, the beds where tulips bloom in the spring are now filled with thousands of annuals that bloom throughout the summer. As many as 30 families and individuals plant the beds with annuals and tend them until they are cleared for the fall planting of tulip bulbs.
In addition to the volunteer gardeners, individuals and corporations donate funds to cover the cost of plants and supplies. If you are interested in participating in this effort, please contact Bruce Barnett at bruce@guilfordnews.com.
